Overview

G.I.F.T. (Growing In Faith Together – formerly known as CCD) is the Children’s Faith Formation Program. Our program invites children grades 1-6 who atten dpublic school to journey with their peers into a closer relationship with our Lord. Our program helps the children grow in their sacramental life through prayer, Scripture, and the Doctrine of the Catholic Church. The classes are taught with enthusiasm, incorporating games, crafts and activities that reinforce the lesson plan. The Catechists who teach are loving, deidcated volunteers. They have all been through Child Protection Training. The classes meet on Wednesday even ing 7:00 – 8:10 p.m., September to May. Our breaks, closings and cancellations follow Vandalia Butler Schools. Please contact Linda Slattery-Lohmiller (CRE), for questions or more information, at 898-3542, ext. 104, or via email at lslattery@catholicweb.com

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Children in grades K-4 attending the 9:00a.m. Sunday morning Mass, September through June, dismiss before the First Reading.  They go to another room in the Church to hear the Liturgy of the Word for Children.  A volunteer leads the children in prayer, reads the Sunday Scripture, and promotes active discussion.  The children are given Worship Bulletins that have mazes, dot to dot, crossword puzzles and other activities that reinforce the reading of the day.  No registration is required.
